Great post!!! I cant wait to make my own little command center. My son starts kindergarten in a few weeks so this is just the post I need. Love to hear more on back to school organization. Also where did you get the small magnetic boards?

Julie Griffith

Aby, I love your ideas! For a family calendar, I have something fun that is crafty and the kids enjoy. It's a magnetic/write on wipe off board with pretty paper tags. The kids like to help rearrange the days every month.

May I ask where you got the calendar with the next month included? I've been looking for this exact thing. I like the dry erase boards but want to be able to see the next month as well.

Aby

Cynthia,

I made the magnets using patterned paper, round wooden disks from Michael's, rub-on letters, and decoupage. Glad you like them. ;)

Hi, Peggy,

I got the basket at Cost Plus World Market...but years ago, and unfortunately they don't carry it any more. The dimensions are about 5 1/2" tall, by 13-1/4" across the front, by 6" deep (front to back.)

Thanks!

Aby

Queenbee, We have a few of the magnet boards in stock in our store... though they're not visible right now. Email me: aby at simplify101.com if you want details.

Thanks,

Aby

Hi - love this message center. I've been searching for a calendar board just like that! I love that it has the next month as well. Can you tell me where you got it?

Aby

Hi, Lisa,

I got the calendar at the Container Store:

Thank you for sharing that. I have been using a central notebook but got out of the habit. Needed some new ideas for getting 4 kids ready for school! Love the menu on the refrig idea. I spray-painted a large canvas bought on sale with chalkboard paint and use it religiously. I post weekly appt, special verses, to dos and the kids practice spelling by putting their lists at the bottom. It works really well...

I love the chalk boards! I am looking forward to creating these for our family!

This is such a good idea. My family set a goal to be more organized, and we created a family message center very similar to this one. And we started some home organization ideas (http://organizingclosetideas.com).
